Thinking out loud.

I am Dan Zitting...

I am the founder of iTickmark (we write beautiful, simple, and intuitive web-based software for accountants and auditors) and a partner at Linford & Company LLP (a public accounting firm based in Denver, CO). However, this is my personal site... posts reflect nothing beyond my personal views. They are by me, about me, self serving, self interested, and "R" rated. I really don't recommend reading any of them.

Blow Up Your Brain!!

This is really cool stuff, all about finding your “flow” and understanding how to maximize the impact of your life by understanding your brain. These two files are mp3′s of the first two Blow Up Your Brain calls and are definitely worth a listen (some would argue potentially life changing). I think this stuff is super cool but actually make time for it if you want to listen. The calls are an hour each. Check it out…

Man… This kinda sucks!

So I just arrived in the OC (Orange County, California) for a two day meeting for work in the Disneyland Hotel. I think it is really pretty cool having a meeting here because it is somewhere fun and different. The prolblem is that there is all this Disney stuff everywhere and the parks are right next door. The kid in me is screaming SPACE MOUNTAIN!!! I totally want to go play in Disneyland instead of sitting through two days of meetings! I guess that on the upside, I was in charge of arranging the agenda for the meeting, so if it is deathly boring I have no one to blame but myself ;-) haha. Also on the upside, the song about “Doe, a dear, a female dear. Re, a drop of golden sun.” was playing in the lobby. That song is (of course) from The Sound of Music which was set in Salzburg, Austria… where I will be less than two weeks!!!

Have a magical day!!! (as they say here in Disneyland). Til next time… Peace.

Welcome to the Disneyland Hotel

Therefore, I Travel

Love that saying… the Lonely Planet guide books tag line. Sooo…. everyone keeps asking me where I’m going in Europe and to that I say GOOD QUESTION. I really don’t know exactly. I am flying into Frankfurt, Germany March 11 and out of Warsaw, Poland April 3. I am doing Business & You with my friend David in Warsaw the last few days but otherwise the itinerary is open… and therefore, I travel!

I am armed with the Central and Eastern Europe Lonely Planet and will just see where life takes me. I LOVE doing this, LOVE IT. :-D  So anyway the definite stops are Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Krakow. The maybes are Bratislava, Ljubjnan, Zagreb, Transylvania, Berlin, Belgrade, and Munich. We’ll see what happens and I will definitely be blogging from over there. I will also be loading pictures to the gallery whenever I can.

THEREFORE, I TRAVEL

Work is slow, life is fast…

Well, I have been pretty slow actualy at Ernst & Young and it is a good thing! Been working a bunch at the store, trying to get ready for Europe, and just get my personal life together. DAMN bills are expensive this time of year… property taxes, car registration, insurance, etc, etc. It sucks!!! Trying to save for Europe is like fruitless effort. Anyway, got a great new door hung on my bathroom this weekend (Thanks for the help Tim!) and got it all painted this week. It is really a lot better. Life is good… one more week to survive until vacation. :-D

Viva Las Vegas Baby…

I survived Vegas again and had another fabulous time. Went for the shot show, never went to the show, but found enough other things to stay entertained. Mikey and the old man were crazy but we ate like pigs and drank like fish. Particularly Mike, who couldn’t do anything productive the entire day Saturday as a result of his hangover. Cruised the sites as usual, nothing out of the ordinary.Â

OH MY GOSH!!

I am within a month of going to Europe for three weeks and haven’t done a thing to get ready… No plans I guess, just wandering around Europe. I’m thinkin Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, and Hugary are on the list. Hopefully Russia too, but don’t know that I can make that happen. Visas for Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine appear to be problematic if you want to get to Moscow overland from Europe :-\. I’m out… gotta go figure out where I’m goin.

Microsoft Small Business…

Damn… I thought after thorough research through Microsoft’s marketing materials, installing Small Business Server 2003 was supposed to be easy. Not the case (though I knew this would be the case). Don’t fall into the “Microsoft is so easy and we’ll you’re small business a profit machine” trap… I just spent two full weekends that say otherwise. Get IT support! More interesting topics to come soon. Later.
